WE HAVE MOVED! Join us and help us to help you preserve yesterday's memories for tomorrow...

We welcome you to our new home at the COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE CENTRE (at the junction of Church Street and Norwich Road, Attleborough - see picture). We are upstairs in the Ellingham Suite.

We are here TWO MORNINGS A WEEK  on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30 - 12.30. You can also arrange to visit us by appointment - see below. YOU ARE ALSO MOST WELCOME TO JOIN US TO CELEBRATE OUR OPENING on Friday 20th March - SEE 'EVENTS' 20 March for full details.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  • Access to a considerable archive of photographs, documents and artifacts related to Attleborough's industrial and commercial history. You can browse some of these in our 'Gallery' or you are welcome to visit us.  Have a look also at our 'Publications' page for items that you can view online or borrow - and booklets that you can order by post - see 'We're in Print' below.
  • We welcome new members and visitors - and if you can't make it during opening hours (9.30-12.30 Wednesdays and Fridays), you can contact us to discuss a specific visit - see full contact details below.
  • Four extra SATURDAY HERITAGE RESEARCH DAYS: see 'What's Coming Up?' below.
  • Resources for family history researchers: we have the transferred records of burials in the Town Cemetery into a digital seachable format and we have also digitised gravestone inscriptions in St Mary's church. For specific enquiries just e-mail details of the Attleborough death or burial you would like to trace: info@attleboroughheritage.org.uk.
  • We have a regular programme of illustrated presentations open to members and the general public. Details of these, offered twice a year, can be found on our 'Events' page.

WHAT'S COMING UP?

EXTRA HERITAGE RESEARCH DAYS: four extra chances to come and find out more about local or family history on SATURDAYS. See 'EVENTS/FUTURE EVENTS' for details of our next one.

WE'RE IN PRINT!

We have produced ten booklets in "A Look at the History of Attleborough's Streets", all now available at just £2.00 each. The latest, HARGHAM ROAD, was published in December 2019. We have a stock of these at our Centre, we sell them at our events, or you can visit our "Publications" page for more details and an order form if you'd like to buy by post. Christine Williams, the editor of this very successful series, is always happy to receive information about places and characters which contribute to the history of the streets and byways of the town.

This Website is dedicated to the memory of Jane Lane, a founding member of the Group whose wish was for the successful growth of a Community organisation to safeguard the Heritage of Attleborough. Jane died before she could see the outcome of her contribution and we trust she would have been proud of this site and its reflection of her wishes.

AN INVITATION: celebrate with us on Friday 20th March at our new venue - for full details and RSVP, see 'Events' 20 March.

BE INSPIRED - our 2020 VISION!

Find out more about the people who have shaped Attleborough. 'Be inspired' changes throughout the year and introduces you to someone who has played a part in shaping our town. For our current story of an inspirational person, visit 'Our Society/Documents' and select 5 February 2020 to be inspired by CONSTANCE CLAY and the Doric Health Movement. Then, if you'd like to see pictures or find out more, feel free to contact us. (See 'Contact us' for details).
